Correlation between Spray Pressure and Spray quality

Spray pressure is the most important factor that defines nozzle performance and hence the spray quality. Spray Pressure directly affects the flow rate, spray pattern (fan angle) and droplet size.  Higher spray pressure produces a finer spray quality i.e., smaller droplet size. Finer sprays have higher tendency to penetrate dense canopies more effectively. It must be noted that smaller droplets are more prone to drift but can be controlled for manual sprayers by maintaining the optimum spraying distance between the target area and the sprayer nozzle.

What are the most common Sprayer seal types and their differences?

Despite seeming like a small detail, a valve's O-ring material is very important. The interior seals inside of a pressure sprayer perform several important functions. They help the pump to operate efficiently and keep liquids from dripping or leaking. Chemicals can be very caustic and can damage the internal seals. The two most common type of seal materials are:

  • VITON seals:

Viton fluoroelastomer seals are known for its broad chemical compatibility. These dense synthetic rubber polymer seals are 4 times more resistant to degradation and are hard wearing than generic seals. Its is commonly employed in various gasket, O-ring and other rubber sealing solutions, such as automotive seals, transportation fuel applications and aerospace seals, pumps and valves.

Viton seals are compatible with aggressive solutions to prevent the liquids from causing mechanical damage to the pump system. Viton seals also work with solutions that contain oil or solvents and are the best choice for solutions within the pH scale of 1-7.

  • EPDM Seals:

Similar to Viton seals, EPDM seals also weather resistant, highly flexible, will recover well after being compressed / squeezed, and can be stretched to a great extent without breaking. The primary difference between Viton and EPDM is in their chemical resistance. EPDM is compatible with a broad range of water-based chemicals used for residential applications, has excellent low temperature tolerance, while also being much economic compared to its counterpart.
