• The pre-filter sponge is designed to protect the pump from fine particles, such as sand or other pond debris that could clog or damage the interior of the pump
• Filter Sponges for Aquascape Ultra 400, Ultra 550 & Ultra 800 pumps come in a set of 4 while those for Ultra 1100, Ultra 1500 & Ultra 2000 pumps come in a set of 2 pieces.

Recommendations:

• The Filter Sponge of a pump is a wearing consumable part. Regular inspection, cleaning and maintenance will ensure longer service life of the impeller and of the pump.
• We recommend replacing the Impellor & Filter Sponge every 12-18 months.
• Operating the pump without the front cover or pre-filter sponge can allow large debris to enter the pump, causing the pump to fail, thus voiding the warranty.
• A worn or damaged Filter Sponge should be replaced. Failure to do so may result in serious damage to the pump.

Steps to inspect / replace the Filter Sponge in Aquascape Ultra series pump:

• Disconnect the power cord from the power supply
• Take the pump unit out of water
• Detach tubing and/or fountain kit
• Remove the outer screen by gently pulling from either side
• Replace / Clean the Filter screen and Filter sponge
• Clean the impeller and check for any signs of wear & tear or damage. Replace the impeller if needed.
• Re-install the Filter sponge and Filter screen
• Reattach the tubing and/or fountain kit
• Place the pump back inside the water body and connect back power supply.
