What are the common applications of a Hessian Bag?
Hessian jute's ability to allow the contents of bags to breathe. Hence it prevents condensation inside the bag, preventing or minimizing rotting due to trapped moisture.
This makes the Hessian bags the age old, preferred choice for uses equally within our homes and gardens.
The natural texture of the jute fibre makes it a very attractive addition to any garden.
- As Mulch: Lay it over in between the plants as mulch. This will not only help with moisture retention and limiting soil erosion but will also restrict weed growth without needing to use chemicals.
- In Plant Nursery: Use Hessian while planting seeds & bulbs to keep the area moist and protect them from being washed away in rain. Laying hessian over newly sown seeds makes them sprout much faster. Remove the hessian once seeds have sprouted to give seedling enough light.
- As Planting Bags: Hessian sacks make great plant pots as they are weather resistant, lightweight, and flexible so plants have room to grow. Simply fill the sack with soil and plant as you would with a pot. Great for growing seasonal flowering plants such as Tulips.
- For collecting Garden Waste: Ideal for bulk collection of leaves, grass clippings and garden waste.
- In Composting: As hessian cloth is breathable and adsorbs water, it makes a great worm farm blanket and a cover for a compost heap.
- As Potato sack: The breathable property of Hessian makes it an ideal choice for storage of Potatoes, Onion, Garlic & other root vegetables and keep them fresh longer. The Kitchen and the Pantry will look organised, and with a farmhouse decoration.
- In Craft: Could be used for making message boards, Vase covers and other endless possibilities of decorating ideas.
- Last but not the least, our ever cherished Sack race !!
