What is an Impact Sprinkler?

An Impact Sprinkler is a common type of sprinkler used for watering large or long lawns and gardens.

In an Impact Sprinkler, a swinging arm bounces the stream of water pushed out through the sprinkler head forcing the head to move and distribute the water in a circular pattern.

This is different to Oscillating sprinkler which has a long tube, with multiple sprinkler holes, that slowly moves back & forth with the force of water.

How to adjust the spray distance in an Impact Sprinkler?

  • - Using Diffuser Pin - The diffuser pin is a large screw anchored to the base of the sprinkler head. Adjust the Diffuser pin to either create a long throw distance with a solid stream of water or a shorter throw distance with a diffused (mist) spray pattern.
  • - Using Deflector Shield - Turn the distance control knob on top of the sprinkler to either MIN or MAX arrow position to suit your application.

How to adjust the spray coverage arc in an impact sprinkler?

  • - Partial circle watering – Push the trip pin to the DOWN position. Then slide the friction collars to adjust the spray arc.
  • - Full circle watering – To get the sprinkler to rotate the full circle, simply move the Trip pin to the UP position.
