Why Diaphragm pumps?
Diaphragm backpack sprayers use a diaphragm pump design that provides a consistent and even pressure, which ensures a uniform spray pattern and helps to prevent over or under-spraying. Moreover, diaphragm pumps are generally more durable and long-lasting than other types of pumps, which means that diaphragm backpack sprayers require less maintenance and are less likely to break down over time.

Knapsack Sprayer Maintenance Tips
- The unit is NOT a pressure vessel. It requires a constant gentle up and down motion of the lever to keep pressure within the pump chamber. This gives a uniform flow through the spray nozzle.
- If spray still comes out of the nozzle when the trigger is closed, this is caused by compressed air bubbles in the lance tube. On first use for the day and between each charge, spray into the air to purge this air out of the lance tube through the nozzle. The spray will then shut-off instantly. The same will also need to be done If you extend a telescopic lance during use to expel the air drawn in through the nozzle.
- Sand & dirt allowed to get inside the inlet will generally jam the shut-off valve and trigger. This will prevent impede spray action and can be prevented by storing the unit in the garden shed when not in use.
- To avoid leaks during usage, ensure that all connections are securely and firmed tightened. Also check that the hose and lances do not slip out.
- Must not exceed the 15L mark on the 15L Knapsack sprayer.
- We recommend having separate dedicated sprayers for garden fertiliser and for weed killers. To avoid any accidental mix up during use, these units must be appropriately labelled for identification.
- Ensure that the sprayer is not pressurised and does not contain any liquid during storage.
