Solo 304B 2L Manual Pressure Sprayer from Solo’s Industrial Cleanline range is designed for use with Alkaline based cleaning fluids (pH 7-14) used in removal of fats, oils and protein residues in commercial kitchen and food processing areas. They are also used for cleaning glass, de-greasing components in the metal industry, or for cleaning jobs in the car industry.

Specifically built SOLO 302B CLEANLine sprayers are equipped with EPDM seals & O-rings for such applications and are also suited for disinfecting such as those used in hospitals and swimming pools. To ensure long service life, the unit’s pump systems are enclosed to prevent mechanical damage due to ingress of aggressive liquids.

Founded in Germany and a worldwide leader of Sprayers, Solo has been operating in Plant Protection and Pest Control since 1948. Whether you are a selective backyard gardener or a professional, you're guaranteed to find the right product to suit your requirements within Solo’s wide range of sprayers.

Correlation between Spray Pressure and Spray quality

Spray pressure is the most important factor that defines nozzle performance and hence the spray quality. Spray Pressure directly affects the flow rate, spray pattern (fan angle) and droplet size.  Higher spray pressure produces a finer spray quality i.e., smaller droplet size. Finer sprays have higher tendency to penetrate dense canopies more effectively. It must be noted that smaller droplets are more prone to drift but can be controlled for manual sprayers by maintaining the optimum spraying distance between the target area and the sprayer nozzle.

What are the most common Sprayer seal types and their differences?

Despite seeming like a small detail, a valve's O-ring material is very important. The interior seals inside of a pressure sprayer perform several important functions. They help the pump to operate efficiently and keep liquids from dripping or leaking. Chemicals can be very caustic and can damage the internal seals. The two most common type of seal materials are:

  • VITON seals:

Viton fluoroelastomer seals are known for its broad chemical compatibility. These dense synthetic rubber polymer seals are 4 times more resistant to degradation and are hard wearing than generic seals. Its is commonly employed in various gasket, O-ring and other rubber sealing solutions, such as automotive seals, transportation fuel applications and aerospace seals, pumps and valves.

Viton seals are compatible with aggressive solutions to prevent the liquids from causing mechanical damage to the pump system. Viton seals also work with solutions that contain oil or solvents and are the best choice for solutions within the pH scale of 1-7.

  • EPDM Seals:

Similar to Viton seals, EPDM seals also weather resistant, highly flexible, will recover well after being compressed / squeezed, and can be stretched to a great extent without breaking. The primary difference between Viton and EPDM is in their chemical resistance. EPDM is compatible with a broad range of water-based chemicals used for residential applications, has excellent low temperature tolerance, while also being much economic compared to its counterpart.

Pressure Sprayer Maintenance Tips

  • Thick mixtures can clog the spray nozzle. Such mixtures should be strained to prevent blockages.
  • Over a period of time some chemicals can leave a build-up of residue which may not be completely removed during regular cleaning. This build-up can collect around the seals in your sprayer, which may eventually stop the sprayer from working. To overcome this problem, we recommend that the bottle be half filled with hot (not boiling) water. Pressurise and spray for a few minutes. The hot water should dissolve any built-up residue allowing your sprayer to operate smoothly.
  • Following to be ensured before use:
  • Insert internal pump assembly and tighten container cap firmly by hand.
  • Tighten the safety valve and hose retainer cap to prevent air escaping.
  • Firmly screw the lance assembly to the trigger handle.
    • Must not exceed the indicated ‘Maximum Filling’ level.
    • We recommend having separate dedicated sprayers for garden fertiliser and for weed killers. To avoid any accidental mix up during use, these units must be appropriately labelled for identification.
    • After every use, gently pull the safety valve upwards and hold until all air has been released. Do not release pressure by unscrewing the container cap.
    • Ensure that the sprayer is not pressurised and does not contain any liquid during storage.
