They are also great when used as secateurs/pruners for accessing those hard to reach places. After cutting, use the jaws to clamp & lift out the cuttings.

Fiskars introduced its classic Universal Cutter range to the market in 1997 as the first of its kind. This new improved X-series model is designed to reach low as well as high branches, thus reducing the need to use a ladder or to bend in non-ergonomic positions. The cutting mechanism generates enough power to cut living soft & growing branches up to 31mm diameter. For ultimate flexibility, the cutting heads can be rotated by up to 230 degrees for the best cutting position.

Features:

• Proven 20 year design, but now even better ergonomics with no exposed locking levers to tangle or get hooked up on branches
• New extended easily visible orange guide on the lower fixed blade aids locating the branch into the cutting jaws
• Same hidden ropeless cutting action means no tangled lines.
• PowerStroke cutting action–The pruning blade is actuated by sliding down the orange handle on the wand or pulling down the orange handle at the end of the wand when at arms length.
• Cutting head on this new model is mechanically fastened to eliminate it inadvertently pulling out.
• Cutting head, as before, rotates 230 degrees to always get the right cut at a comfortable angle.
• Fully hardened steel blade with non-stick coating cuts with less effort.
• Lightweight aluminum pole weighs only 1.15kg.
• 1.58m long (non-extendable). By pulling the knob on the end, this allows an easy 3.5m reach for a 1.8m high user.
• Cutting capacity: 31mm in soft green living growth or approximately 25mm in hard growth
• Accessories: Branch Saw - 1023633 for cuts up to 100mm diameter, Fruit Picker - 110970 - this collection sack is perfect when cutting fruit high up in the fruit tree.
